    F-150 Mounting System

Posted by Paul Barnett on Jul 18th 2023

There has definitely been a lot of thought pilot into this mount. Installation was easy and firmest is forgiving as need be. I especially like that it retains the factory tie-downs. Hoaweverto remove the tie-down screws, they are treated with thread locker, so a ratchet is easier than the supplied tool. I would like to see the standoffs a little farther from the bed and I would like to see vertical holes in the mounts for use in the rear tie-down locations. It is difficult to understand which mount to use for the small diameter, 100mm QR, but they can quickly help with a phone call. The 60” track included square nuts for the mounts, making for easy attachment. The whole assembly is pricey, but at the sake of not drilling my truck, I’ll live with it. The last test will be how it withstands the car wash. Thanks, Rocky Mounts!

My bikes are now safe and secure locked in the bed of the truck which makes me very happy! Install was smooth and parts all are performing solidly. Great product!!

    Solid, Well-Designed System

Posted by Bob on Jul 12th 2018

This is a must have for F-150 MTBers. I combined this with a few Driveshaft Track mounts, which lock and are keyed alike. Mounting both my 15mm and 20mm axles is easy with the interchangable insert system. Most importantly, the axle fit and entire system is rock solid. The design is heavy/industrial (good), with easy adjustments to set up. I also run a tailgate pad for variety but this system is the safest most solid/safe way to carry, with least damage potential to truck or bike. I will note that if you have a spray-in over top of your tie downs, you will have to cut the tie-downs away from the liner in order to remove them and install the rack rail underneath. This was pretty easy to do- I just touched up the spray in around the screws with some DIY stuff and re-installed the tie downs over mounting brackets.

This rack system is far superior to anything on the market. It's nice to not be disappointed with a product!

This is by far the best bike rack that I have purchased. Very well made and is a must to have for any F-150 owner.

exactly what i was looking for

Posted by Ron Archibald on Jun 29th 2017

i love fork mounts and wanted to get some without drilling any holes in the aluminum bed. this installed really quickly and fit well into the tie down brackets. i got this kit and two hotrods (both bikes have thru axles) and it is really good quality and strong. i might get an another bike mount if we need to carry a third bike. note: this came with all the torx tool for installation, but i used my socket set and it was easier than the hand tool they give you.

    pretty nice

Posted by Billy on Jun 23rd 2017

i needed a bike rack that would not get in the way for hauling (i use the bed a lot) and this is really good. it fits right into the threaded holes Ford uses for the tie downs. the track seems overbuilt as you cannot even flex it (stiffer than a 2x4), which surprised me, most bike racks i have used feel cheap and this is solid. i got one of the Hotrods for my mountain bike and it slid perfectly into the track. i just use a cable to lock the bikes. i did not like that you had to buy the bike racks separately, and i called them about this. they told me that if they included the bike mounts, it would have been more expensive because they would have to put in a lot of different attachments because there is no standard on bicycle forks. they also picked up the phone in person and they guy at rockymounts actually knew the product really well. was happy not to talk to someone in india.
