The TandemMount R4 Offset Bracket is required on some vehicle base racks. It spaces the tandem mount further outboard (by up to 9") on the crossbar. This may be required to use the pivoting head function of the RockyMounts TandemMount R4.

As a general rule, if you can mount your TandemMount R4 outside of your roof rack towers, you'll reduce the likelihood you'll need the offset bracket, however factors such as the bicycle and the vehicle will also influence whether you need the bracket to offset your racks or not.
